UWC Dilijan Celebrates 10 Years of Transformative Summer Camps
This year, UWC Dilijan proudly celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Summer Camps programme, marking a decade of inspiring young people from around the world through experiential learning, intercultural dialogue and leadership development.
Since its launch in 2015, the UWC Dilijan Summer Camps have welcomed hundreds of students aged 11-18 from dozens of countries, creating a vibrant international community each summer in the scenic mountains of Dilijan, Armenia. The camps combine academic exploration, outdoor adventure, creative expression and collaborative problem-solving, empowering participants to build skills, friendships and perspectives that extend far beyond the classroom.
Through these experiences, students are encouraged to develop curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive difference in their communities. “Summer Camps have become an important gateway to the UWC mission for many young people,” said Elena Sheroziya, Summer Camps Director at UWC Dilijan. “For ten years, we’ve seen students arrive as strangers and leave as confident global citizens with lifelong friendships and a deeper understanding of the world.”
The camps are supported by UWC Dilijan staff and alumni volunteers, who bring the United World Colleges ethos to life through mentorship, collaboration and a shared dedication to peace and sustainability. Julian, who participated in the summer camp and then enrolled in UWC Dilijan said, “It taught me about intercultural understanding, mutual respect and protecting the environment, ultimately leading to my decision to study IB at UWC Dilijan and pursue Russian/Eurasian Studies at Leiden. I highly recommend the programme for teens with an interest in global issues and in meeting people from diverse countries and backgrounds.”
As UWC Dilijan celebrates this milestone, the Summer Camps programme continues to evolve with new themes, workshops, and partnerships designed to address global challenges and inspire the next generation of changemakers. Youth from around the world are welcomed to experience a bit of Armenia in the magnificent setting of UWC Dilijan and leave with memories lasting a lifetime.
