“Women on the Board of Directors” Program 2025–2026: Milestones Achieved and New Horizons Ahead

On 26 February, the Corporate Governance Center proudly concluded the “Women on the Board of Directors” program, which was launched on 21 November 2025. The program was implemented under the “Responding to Threats of Corrosive Capital in Armenia. Phase III” project, funded by the UK International Development from the UK Government in collaboration with the Center for International Private Enterprise.

The Corporate Governance Center is an independent expert platform dedicated to advancing international best practices and principles of corporate governance, alongside a culture of integrity — as a cornerstone for the sustainability and competitiveness of Armenia’s business environment.

48 New Graduates, 78% Knowledge Growth

The program was completed by 48 distinguished professionals representing the private, public, and non-profit sectors, each now equipped to step into impactful roles in the Board of Directors and management teams in organizations. The participation of male attendees deserves special mention, as it reflects the universal value of corporate governance expertise — relevant and beneficial to all board members and candidates, regardless of gender.

Participants recorded an impressive 78% growth in knowledge over the course of the program, while 98% of graduates expressed their commitment to championing the adoption of Armenia’s Corporate Governance Code within their own organizations.

“These results speak volumes — about the program value and, most importantly, about the dedication of our participants. I am firmly convinced that these 48 graduates will become genuine driving forces behind corporate governance reform in Armenia,” said Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center.

“The three-month “Women on the Board of Directors” program was a true revelation — and one that connected directly to my own professional work. Good governance cannot exist without clear, transparent, trust-building communication. The program gave me not only new knowledge, but a fresh perspective on the role communication plays in shaping corporate culture. The 78% knowledge growth among participants speaks for itself: the right knowledge, given to the right people at the right time, drives change in any field,” said Anna Allahverdyan, Head of Communication and CSR Programs Coordination at AraratBank.

The closing ceremony was graced by remarks from Alexandra Pamela Cole, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia, and Luiza Ayvazyan, Head of Office, Center for International Private Enterprise in Armenia.
