Viva’s General Director participates as a speaker in a panel discussion at “Telecom Week 2026”

“Telecom Week 2026” has kicked off in Yerevan, bringing together telecommunications operators, state and regulatory bodies, international technological organizations, as well as educational institutions to discuss the sector’s development priorities, innovations, and digital future.

As part of the event, Viva’s General Director Armen Avetisian participated in the panel discussion titled “From communication to digital services: operators’ new role”.

Gevorg Yengibaryan, CEO of “Fnet”; Igor Mkrtumyan, President of “Internet Society” NGO; and Davit Abrahamyan, CEO of “iNet” also participated in the discussion.

The discussion focused on the changing role of telecommunications operators and the development of digital services, particularly changes in customer experience and expectations, ensuring a reliable and secure digital environment, the use of 5G, IoT and smart solutions, as well as the emergence of new revenue models.

“In the modern world, where data centers, cloud technologies and artificial intelligence are developing at an unprecedented pace, it is necessary to recognize that the infrastructure of communication operators continues to be at the core of the digital future. It is telecommunications networks that provide the fundamental environment without which scalable computing, stable cloud services and a fully functioning digital economy would not be possible.

In this context, IoT-based solutions are becoming an important tool for integrating physical objects with digital systems. By providing continuous data collection and analysis in real time, IoT allows for more effective management of resources: energy, water, infrastructure and production processes. This enhances operational efficiency, reduces costs and supports sustainable development.

At the same time, the large scale deployment of IoT is most effective when supported by high-speed, reliable and uninterrupted connectivity. It is 5G and 5G+ technologies that provide the infrastructure on which IoT systems can operate in real time, with minimal latency and rapid data transfer. This significantly increases the efficiency of cloud services, big data platforms, and AI-driven solutions, accelerating data collection and analysis processes and ensuring more accurate and timely decisions.

Viva continues to develop its digital ecosystem by investing in new-generation infrastructure and integrated digital solutions. The Viva IoT Hub platform offers a full range of services, from device connectivity to data analysis, supporting the digital transformation of businesses. At the same time, Viva is actively investing in the development of the 5G network in Armenia, considering it as one of the important foundations of the country’s digital economy. The frequency bands acquired by Viva for 5G deployment create additional opportunities for the rapid growth of modern digital services, including new-generation IoT solutions.

A key advantage of Viva’s infrastructure is its diversified international fiber-optic connectivity toward Europe. Geographically independent routes and equipment redundancy ensure high data transmission integrity and reliability, increasing the stability and continuity of digital services, which have now become a vital infrastructure for the economy and society,” noted Armen Avetisian, General Director of Viva.

The week also includes roundtable discussions, workshops, sector-specific visits, as well as events dedicated to children’s online safety and youth engagement, creating an effective platform for partnership and professional networking.
